We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover) and PayPal for immediate processing. The shopping cart checkout procedure allows you to select whichever payment method you prefer.

When do you charge my credit card?

When we receive your order, the full amount of the order will be charged to your credit card.

Will I receive an order confirmation after enrolling?

Yes, you will receive a message confirming your enrollment, as well as another message when your materials ship.

If you do not receive an email from the system, please call us at (833) 887-4266 or send us an email to [email protected], so we can help you set up your account.

How do installment and payment plans work?

We understand that not everyone is able to pay for their lessons in one payment. For those individuals, we have created a payment plan which breaks the payment into 10 payments spread over 10 months. In under a year you will have paid for years’ worth of piano lessons!

There is a $50 convenience fee implemented on payment plans for spreading the payment out over the 10 months. For international customers, the $35 shipping charge will be added to the first installment payment and will not be spread out over the 10 payments.

Note: This is installment plan is not a subscription that can be stopped at any time. By selecting the installment plan, you are committing to pay the full amount select at the time of purchase.

Do you ship to countries outside of the United States?

Yes, we welcome students from outside the US. There is a $35 USD shipping cost added to your tuition to ship outside the US. We ship via United States First Class International. Materials usually ship the next business day and can take anywhere from 7-30 days to arrive at your destination depending on how long it takes to get through your country’s customs facility. The package is track-able from the time it leaves our office in Indianapolis, Indiana to the point of its clearance at an International Customs facility. Once it leaves International Customs, it is trackable again until it is delivered to your desired shipping address.

How long will it take for me to get my books and materials?

Depending on your location, it will take anywhere from 7-10 business days.

However, for orders outside the United States, shipping times vary greatly. Although most arrive within 2-3 weeks, it can take as long as 8 weeks.

What city are the products shipping from?

Your instructional materials will ship from our fulfillment warehouse located in Zionsville, IN.

If I am not 100% satisfied with my purchase, how do I request a refund?

We have a 30-day no questions asked return policy. To request a full refund you must email us for return instructions before shipping back your materials:

E-Mail: [email protected]

Subject: Return Instructions - [ORDER NUMBER]

Please note that your course instructional materials are shipped usually the same business day that your course was ordered. Once your materials ship to your address, you must return your materials to us at your expense before a refund can be made. S&H fee is not refundable. To receive a refund, a request must be made to [email protected] within 30 days of purchase. Any damaged books returned will be deducted from the refund amount.

Any refunds requested made after this 30-day window will not be entitled to a refund.

Are duties and taxes associated with international shipping included in the payment?

Each country handles duties and taxes a little differently as does each carrier. Duty and Taxes for Canada and Australia are included in our shipping fees. Countries outside of these could be subject to additional taxes dictated by your country. Piano in A Flash marks our packages as educational material with a value of $29, not the price of your full purchase to help reduce these fees.

Do I need to have a keyboard or piano?

You definitely need to have an instrument to practice on. The courses are built strongly on applying what you learn as you go. Scott’s preferred recommendation is an 88 note keyboard with weighted action – digital or acoustic. However, any basic affordable keyboard with a minimum of 48 keys should do just fine to get started.

What kind of keyboard do I need?

As long as your keyboard has black-and-white notes you’re probably good to go! Grand pianos, acoustic upright pianos, digital pianos, synthesizers, keyboards, and organs will all work just fine with our program.

If you’re considering purchasing a new instrument to use with this program, Scott typically recommends a digital piano with 88 note keyboard with weighted action but a minimum of 48 keys should do just fine as a great starter instrument.

If you’re considering purchasing a new instrument to use with this program, Scott typically recommends a digital piano with weighted action with a minimum of 72 keys as a great starter instrument.

How many keys must my piano or keyboard have at a minimum?

We recommend that you use a keyboard with at least 4 octaves or one with at least 48 keys in total (including both black and white keys). You can certainly get a feel for the course and learn some skills with a smaller keyboard, but you probably will not be able to get to the point of playing and sounding very good on a keyboard smaller than 4 octaves.

Does this course work with an organ?

Absolutely! All the techniques that we teach in our program work equally as well whether you are playing an acoustic piano, a digital piano, an organ, or a smaller keyboard.

Can I make an app icon on my iPad that will take me directly to the online course?

Absolutely! It’s easy… If you are using an iPad to access the Courses, here is a quick video with a really easy way to add an icon to your home screen that will jump directly to the Online Lessons at pianoinaflash.com.

Course Information
How does the online program work?

If you’re new to online learning - like so many of our students are - you may be a little unsure about where to start. Don’t worry, Scott makes e-learning fun AND easy! The main thing you need to understand is that this program makes use of 3 main tools:

1. The internet
2. Your piano or keyboard
3. The piano books that we send you as part of the courses

To participate in Scott’s Method, you’ll need to log in to your online learning platform at learn.pianoinaflash.com. You can access your lessons from any device that has internet access.
On your device, watch Scott’s video. He will tell you what page to turn to in your piano book and show you what he wants you to play. Follow his instructions to play the exercises on your own piano or keyboard. Because the lessons are virtual, you can spend as much time as you want practicing the exercises and corresponding songs. When you’re ready to move on to the next exercise, simply click “continue” and Scott will keep teaching!

Do I need any prior experience?

You do not need any prior experience to be successful with our course. We will start at the beginning, and you can move through the program at your own pace. Obviously, some of you will be able to move a little faster than those who have never touched a piano before… However, all of you—beginners and those who have already been exposed to music lessons at some point—can be successful with our course.

Are these piano lessons only for beginners?

Absolutely not! Although course one starts at the very beginning and will be totally appropriate for those that are just beginning to play the piano, many people who take our courses have previously played the piano or taken piano lessons. Even if you have played some classical piano in the past or taken traditional lessons we think it is very important to start at the beginning in our course because of the different styles and techniques that we teach. If you stick with our program and work your way through all six of our sequential courses, you will be working on some very advanced (and great sounding!) musical concepts and piano techniques.

The most important thing to remember is that we are exclusively teaching how to play all non-classical styles of piano. Therefore, if you’re looking to get a start in traditional classical piano playing this will not be the course for you. However, if you’re wanting to either get started in piano at the very beginning or take your classical piano skills and apply them to learning how to play all other styles, then this is exactly what you are looking for.

I have taken classical lessons. Where should I start?

If you are an adept music notation reader, you might find portions of Courses 1 and 2 to be very elementary.

However, in addition to the very basics, the material that Scott covers in these 2 courses is critical to the understanding of playing in this style.

Everything moving forward builds on those concepts, so even if the technical portions of Courses 1 & 2 seem very simple to you, we still think that it is very valuable to go through courses 1 & 2 to hear everything else.
Should you decide to skip Course 1 & 2 anyways, we still strongly recommend that you still at a minimum, purchase Scott’s paperback book, Play Piano in a Flash book, and read it before you begin Course 3. You can find it at this link:

Play Piano in a Flash!: Play Your Favorite Songs Like a Pro – Whether You've Had Lessons or Not!

Hope that helps.

Can I get started right away or do I need to wait for my materials to arrive?

We have created the Play Piano in a Flash Online Method with eager students just like you in mind. Simply sign up and pay your tuition for the Course, and you are ready to go! All the materials that you need will be provided for you online for the first 3 classes. That includes 17 lessons and 14 hands-on student exercises in Course 1 or 15 lessons and 12 hands-on student exercises in Course 2. That should give you plenty of material to get started with while awaiting the arrival of your instructional materials that will be delivered right to your home.

I have purchased the course. Now, how do I get started on my first lesson?

You received an email with log-in information and a temporary password shortly after purchasing the course.  You can get started immediately. The first three classes in your purchased course can be completed without the instructional books. Your Course instructional materials will arrive shortly.

How long do I get access to the videos after I buy?

All courses and bundles come with lifetime access.

What does "lifetime membership" entail?

“Lifetime membership” is defined as a paid customer being able to access the online learning environment and its videos and resources as long as the Piano In A Flash domain is active and accessible online. Lifetime membership does not constitute a customer's ability to request refunds or returns during said lifetime. If the domain becomes inactive and inaccessible for any reason, whether that be temporary issues befalling the domain or permanent closure of the domain, students will no longer have access to the online learning environment and its videos and resources.
